Formation of Vijayavalli Sudarshana Sewa Satsangam & Performance of Sudarshana Homams
Shri Sudarshana Bhagwan's Grace helps devotees in attaining contentment on spiritual plane and instills seva bhava in them. With such bhavana in mind and in order that the Divine Radiation spreads everywhere and the society at large begets peace, solace, tranquility and salvation, Seven like-minded individuals jointly performed the first Sudarshana Homam in October 2001. As everyone knows, the Divinity of God attracts all and as the number of devout with similar bhavana increased, Shri Sudarshana Jana Mahakalyana Charitable Trust was formed subsequently (as a non-commercial entity) after the third Homam, with the sankalpam of performing 108 Sudarshana Homams and through this to launch ourselves in the service of humanity by helping poor and needy. The Homams are performed with utmost religious sincerity and devotion in order to beget the benign blessings of Lord Sudarshana or Chakrathazhwar.

With blessings of Lord Sudarshana, our activities have been registered formally under the Societies Act in the year 2007 in the name of Vijayavalli Sudarshana Sewa Satsangam. Our Satsangam is now a 180-member family, which is still growing, constructively progressing in the Divine path.

A fact that needs mention here is that some members are so impressed and divinely motivated that they have contributed in a big way so that the Satsangam could acquire idols (vigrahams) of Lord Sudarshana and His Consort Sri Vijayavalli Thayar. An idol of Lord Hanuman was also presented to the Satsangam by a member. Also, decorative ornaments and important Tirumanjanam items (silver wares) have been contributed by the members. From January 2006 onwards, one of the members has been contributing rice regularly for every Homam and Kalyana Utsavam.
After the arrival of idols of Lord Sudarshana and His Consort, the Homams and other events at residences of members and Kshetrams are always performed with Lord Sudarshana and His Consort presiding over and bestowing Their Divine Grace. Thiruvaradhanam of Lord Sudarshana, Consort Vijayavalli Thayar and Lord Hanuman take place daily.
Sudarshana Sewa
The Satsangam’s long term endeavour is also to launch itself in the service of the society at large and as part of this, the Satsangam has been undertaking from October 2007 onwards Sudarshana Sewa (feeding the poor) on Homam days, for which, our members, as ever, are heartily forthcoming in sponsoring the Sudarshana Sewa. The full contribution towards Sudarshana Sewa is Rs. 2001/-. (However, whatever the devotees want to contribute towards Sudarshana Sewa is also welcome). Helping needy students complete studies, enable poor families perform marriages of wards, imparting vocational and vedic education to children are other social activities that the Satsangam would venture into shortly.

Book brought out by the satsangam
Book brought to the Satsangam was blessed to bring out in November 2006 a book ‘Sudarshana Sathakam’ composed by Koora Narayana Jeeyar Swami. Shri U.Ve. D. Rajagopalachariar, a well known scholar rendered its meaning in Tamil. The importance of Sudarshana Sathakam is narrated thus: Koora Narayana Jeeyar was an ardent disciple of Kurathalwar. Once Shri Tiruvaranga Perumala Jeeyar Swami suffered from sickness and great pain. He used to recite Divya Prabandham at Lord Shriranaganatha’s sannidhi. Seeing his unbearable pain, Koorath Alwar’s wife asked Shri Koora Narayana Jeeyar to use his manthra sashtra and remove his pain.
